Calgary Renaissance Singers and Players presents Regina Caeli, a concert program honouring the Virgin Mary, who is often celebrated at this time of year as the perfect portal for Jesus' entrance into the world as a mortal man. Rejoice, Mary, Spotless Rose and Queen of Heaven! In this program you will hear Renaissance music by Victoria, Handl, Mouton and Palestrina, along with more modern works by Stravinsky, Biebl and Arvo Part. We will also be premiering a new work by Carol Matthews, called "Maryam." The choir will perform in colourful Renaissance costumes, with projected images of curated art selections, joined by organist Chellan Hoffman and recorder-player, Scott Blair.
