George Fenwick – Black Jacques (le chat noir)
Tchaikovsky – Finale from Symphony No. 6 Op. 74
Wagner – Tod und Trauer-Marsch from Götterdämmerung
Chausson – Symphony in B flat Op. 20

George’s compositions have been broadcasted on CBC Radio, have been performed in France, Germany a,nd the USA, and have been nominated and have received a number of awards.

His relationship with the Calgary Youth Orchestra at Mount Royal University Conservatory, began many years ago when as a student violinist he was a member of the orchestra. From 2009 until a few months before he passed away, George was Manager of the Calgary Youth Orchestra, a position in which he excelled as administrator and mentor to young composers. His empathy for students, his character, intellect, brilliance, modesty, and professionalism made a great impact on the impressionable musicians and made the CYO a really special organization.

Along with his position as Manager, the CYO commissioned from George a number of works and arrangements for such special events as CYO’s 50th anniversary and the opening of the Bella Concert Hall at Mount Royal University. His orchestral arrangement of the Vice-Regal Salute, premiered by the CYO on March 3, 2019, at a concert attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, has been uploaded by the Alberta Government on one of its websites. On the CYO tour to France, his piece Black Jacques was a hit with French audiences in Paris and other locations.
