Spiritus celebrates the glory of the human voice and the return of singing together by presenting music about singing itself—or ‘the very act of singing.’ The choir will share the stage with young solo artists from the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University Conservatory, Ambrose University and the Southern Alberta Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Hear the world premiere of When Sleep is Nigh by Alberta composer Stuart Beatch and the Canadian premiere of Everyone Sang by Matthew D. Nielson. The concert will feature Benjamin Britten’s masterful Hymn to St. Cecilia wherein the patron saint of music is asked “appear and inspire…in visions to all musicians.”
Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets and at the door. Credit card would be preferred at the door.
Due to the limited capacity of the venue, ticket sales for the in-person experience may close early. The concert will also be live-streamed to our Facebook page if you would feel more comfortable attending our concert at home. There will be no cost to attend the livestream performance.
Spiritus is committed to a policy of health and safety for our performers, volunteers and audience members. Due to the ever-changing nature of the COVID19 pandemic, we will be providing updates regarding health policies closer to the date of the performance via our email list and social media channels. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
