Die Fledermaus: The Champagne Operetta

Join Alberta Vocal Arts in their inaugural staged production of, 'Die Fledermaus: The Champagne Operetta', directed by Shandra Gallant. This sparkling production showcases Johann Strauss' comedic operetta, a delightful tale filled with mistaken identities, tangled romances, and an enchanting masquerade ball. It is also the 150th anniversary of this timeless classic, and one of the Top 10 performed operas in the canon.

Follow the hilarious mis-adventures of Gabriel von Eisenstein, a charming yet wayward husband, his quick witted wife Rosalinde, the mischievous Dr. Falke, the ambitious maid Adele, the passionate opera tenor Alfred, the steadfast prison warden Frank, and the eccentric Prince Orlofsky. There will also be a surprise guest or two... you never know who the Prince invites to his parties! Amidst the laughter and revelry, these characters discover invaluable lessons about love, forgiveness, and the transformative power of a night of masked enchantment.

Set to captivate audiences from January 11-13, 2024, at Festival Hall in the heart of Calgary's Music Mile, this operatic gem offers a delightful blend of humour, romance, and catchy melodies, promising an enchanting evening for all. A pre-show chat, commencing at 7:00 PM, will unravel the operetta's plot, playful tunes, intriguing anecdotes, and “easter-eggs” to watch for, while setting the stage for the 7:30 PM performance.

With ticket prices deliberately set at an accessible starting rate of just $25, Alberta Vocal Arts aims to ensure affordability without compromising the quality of this immersive operatic experience.
