UCalgary Orchestra & Wind Ensemble

Join the UCalgary Orchestra and Wind Ensemble for an evening of symphonic works. This joint concert presents timeless classics and contemporary masterpieces. Enjoy the rich tapestry of orchestral strings and the vibrant timbres of the wind instruments.

The Wind Ensemble will showcase Philip Sparke’s The Year of the Dragon, in celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 10.

Tickets are $14 (adults) / $11 (students/seniors) and are available through arts.ucalgary.ca/tickets or at the door.

The UCalgary Orchestra has garnered national attention, with broadcast on CBC Radio’s Our Music and on its national programs In Performance and Take Five. They have also performed at esteemed events such as the Third Esther Honens Calgary International Piano Competition and Festival. 

The UCalgary Wind Ensemble has earned a reputation as one of the finest University groups of its kind in Canada and one of the principal international leaders in the field. Most notably, they have performed at the CBDNA National Conference and at the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) Conference. Our commercial CDs on three recording labels have established our reputation for musical sensitivity, technical polish and innovative programming.
