Mozart Requiem

This special performance of Mozart’s Requiem holds a special significance, reminiscent of Luminous Voices' inaugural performance at the Bella in 2015. 

Luminous Voices will perform the Robert Levin edition of Mozart's Requiem, a version that explores the essence of Mozart's original composition while addressing certain deficiencies introduced by Mozart's pupil, Süssmayr. Published in 1991 by musicologist and great Mozart specialist Robert Levin, the Levin edition seamlessly integrates elements from newer versions, maintaining the integrity of Mozart's musical vision. Luminous Voices will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra for this piece.

The concert will also feature a diverse selection of works, both accompanied and unaccompanied, by acclaimed composers Andrew Balfour, Owain Park, Jeffrey Ryan, and Tchaikovsky. 

The performance proudly features highly talented Calgary singers, all of whom are long-standing members of Luminous Voices: Hannah Pagenkopf (soprano), Aoife Bonaventura (alto), Jason Ragan (tenor), Nicholas Allen (bass), alongside Japanese-Canadian dancer and choreographer Yukichi Hattori.
