The Calgary tradition lives on

The annual Sing Along Messiah concert takes place on Sunday, Dec. 18

Just before Christmas, the annual Sing Along Messiah concert will take place at the beautiful Knox United Church in downtown Calgary.

A Sing Along Messiah is a performance where the audience is invited to sing along in the choruses - what could be a better way to share Handel’s glorious Messiah

Performances of Handel’s Messiah at Christmas are a time-honoured tradition in many English-speaking countries across the world. The piece has a broad appeal, not only to classical music aficionados, but also to those whose musical tastes generally lie elsewhere.

Solos will be sung by auditioned young soloists (Allie Pompu, Katie Filson-Lau & Elizabeth Fast, sopranos; Dallas Hayes-Sparks, mezzo-soprano; Brenden Lengsfeld, countertenor) and members of VoiceScapes and friends with Rosa Barocca Baroque Orchestra. And you, the audience, can join the professional choir to sing along with the choruses - or just sit back and enjoy!

Bring your own score if you have one. Some scores will be available to borrow with a donation to the Calgary Food Bank.

The concert takes place on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3 PM at Knox United Church (506 - 4 Street SW, Calgary). Tickets are available online or at the door.

Presented by Early Music Voices.
