The University of Calgary School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) Music Division is delighted to present a solo piano recital by Russian-American pianist Daria Rabotkina. Titled The Ghosts of Inspiration, the concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at the prestigious Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, Rozsa Centre.
The Ghosts of Inspiration promises an evocative journey through the "tender" and difficult periods in composers' lives, featuring a captivating program that includes works by Schumann, Beethoven, Nikolai Medtner, and Paul Harvey Aurandt.
Programme:
Born in Kazan, Russia, into a family of musicians, Daria Rabotkina gave her first solo recital at the age of ten. Her education started at the Specialized Music School and continued in Kazan State Conservatory and Mannes College of Music in New York City. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music. Rabotkina has performed with Kirov (Mariinsky) Orchestra, Moscow State Symphony, and Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as solo recitals at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Kennedy Center, and Weill Recital Hall among others.
Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Piano at Texas State University, Rabotkina brings her exceptional talent to the University of Calgary, promising an evening of musical brilliance and exploration.
The Ghosts of Inspiration will take place on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at Eckhardt-Gramatté Recital Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary.
